Plant City, FL
Plant City is in Hillsborough County, Florida, roughly halfway between Brandon and Lakeland along Interstate 4. Its convenient proximity to Orlando and Tampa airports have made Plant City an ideal location for major businesses. The area offers a mix of big city features with small town charm.
Many assume that it was named for the agriculture in the area, but the name is actually an homage to famous railroad designer Henry B. Plant. Plant City is geologically located in the Southern Flatwoods ecological community, however the flatwoods are typically known for infertile soil and Plant City has higher organic matter content and thrives as an agriculture center.
Plant City hosts the annual Florida Strawberry Festival, and is known as the Winter Strawberry Capital of the World. The annual festival is an 11-day event and attracts over half a million visitors to the area each year.
Fun fact: The Cincinnati Reds held their spring training in Plant City from 1988 to 1997, and played exhibition games at Plant City Arena.
